If you read my posts, Gratitude Thursday: Staycation and Foto Friday: Favorites, then you are aware of the royal treatment that my parents give The Deuce. My mother came to Slidell for an overnight visit on Monday. Daddy stayed behind to oversee a remodeling project at their house. Can’t wait to see the new changes! On the way to my house, Momma stopped at the store and bought a 7 Up Cake and a pack of Blue Bell Ice Cream cups for The Deuce. That was in addition to the slices of ham she baked at home (I finally got her to write down how she prepares hers), macaroni and cheese, and homemade pickles she prepared from cucumbers in Daddy’s garden.

During her visit, she made her famous Crawfish Pasta Salad, which is served cold, for Hubby because she knows he loves it. I have lost count over 20+ years how many times she has made it (especially for him). I always tease him about being her favorite son-in-law. SN: He’s her only son-in-law.

Yesterday Momma treated Deuce to a back-to-school shopping trip. New bigger and better SpiderMan backpack. First graders need more room. New uniform shirts for the growing boy. Fresh white socks because boys can never have enough of those. A bright t-shirt filled with characters just because. And no back-to-school shopping trip is complete until you buy frozen pizza and Little Debbie’s Oatmeal Creme Pies. Duh!
I have nothing but gratitude for my parents because they have always been so supportive. I’m overjoyed that we were able to move back to Louisiana so we can enjoy visits like this. The Deuce loves his Granny and PaPa. Don’t you?
